En el foro con ejemplos específicos, representantes de YPFB Transporte y de la Sociedad Boliviana de Cemento (Soboce), expusieron su exitosa experiencia sobre los beneficios de contar con sistemas integrales de gestión de seguridad industrial y salud ocupacional bien formulados y provistos de las herramientas idóneas para aplicarlos.
“Buscamos traer experiencias, información y procedimientos al mercado y que todos los trabajadores del área industrial y petrolera, específicamente en el área de seguridad y salud ocupacional, puedan estar expuestos a esta información y se puedan llevar un valor agregado importante”, enfatizó Palenque.
En la oportunidad, 3M presentó un andamio certificado, de 6 metros de altura, el cual permitió a los asistentes al evento llevar a la práctica la información impartida por los expertos y comprobar la efectividad de las soluciones propuestas por la empresa. El andamio de la exhibición es desarmable y, por lo tanto, móvil. Es de acero con revestimiento anticorrosivo; sus puntos de conexión están certificados, de manera de proveer seguridad en los trabajos de altura. Existen dos unidades de este andamio en Bolivia, uno para el Occidente y, otro, para el Oriente.
El gerente técnico Pablo Caballero hizo hincapié en la necesidad de la educación y el entrenamiento tanto a trabajadores como a empleadores para concienciar acerca de la seguridad ocupacional y lamentó que Bolivia sea uno de los países con mayores tasas de caídas, en el rubro de la construcción, lo que se puede evitar con el uso de equipos adecuados, el entrenamiento en el uso de esos implementos y la toma de consciencia de la necesidad de utilizarlos.
Asimismo el experto Felipe Chinchon se refirió a la inversión en seguridad, que no debe estar específicamente ligada al aspecto económico, sino también al social, dado que los trabajadores pueden sufrir daños irreparables, que no solo afectan la cadena productiva de la empresa sino que repercuten en su entorno familiar. Por ello celebró que cada vez más empresas sean responsables y provean de los elementos de seguridad necesarios a sus trabajadores.
Caballero recordó que en la seguridad y la salud ocupacional no bastan los equipos, las soluciones adecuadas, la educación y la capacitación, sino que debe existir una legislación clara que se aplique y fiscalice, para así contar con espacios laborales más seguros. En ese sentido, indicó que 3M es facilitador ante los respectivos ministerios de distintos países en el mundo para la elaboración de leyes que así lo permitan.
