La tercera planta de fabricación de plásticos biodegradables se instalará en Cochabamba a fines de este año y comenzará a funcionar desde la gestión 2012.
El responsable de la planta piloto de biotecnología de la Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS), Jorge Quillaguamán, indicó que la planta podrá ser instalada en el departamento gracias al apoyo económico del Reino de Suecia y la UMSS.
P: ¿Qué hace falta para la instalación de la planta?
R: Faltan algunos equipos como el reactor de 100 litros y un laboratorio especializado con incubadoras que permita manejar los cultivos de tejido.
El reactor ya nos va a llegar de China en las próximas semanas y con eso ya podremos comenzar a realizar la instalación.
P: ¿Con qué financiamiento cuentan para implementar la planta de plásticos biodegradables?
R: Ha sido un poco difícil conseguir el apoyo, pero ya tenemos el financiamiento para hacerlo.
El Reino de Suecia nos ha dado el financiamiento para los equipos y con los recursos del Impuesto Directo a los Hidrocarburos de la UMSS hemos conseguido la infraestructura que estará ubicada en el kilómetro 10 de la avenida Blanco Galindo.
También hemos iniciado proyectos con universidades del Japón, Israel y Suecia y por eso estamos seguros que vamos a conseguir más proyectos para potenciar mucho más esta planta de producción.
P: ¿Cuál es el costo de la planta?
R: El costo de esta planta solamente en lo que respecta a equipos es de un millón doscientos mil bolivianos y en infraestructura aproximadamente 200 mil bolivianos, pero eso solamente concierne a la primera fase.
P: ¿Cuándo podría iniciar la producción de piel artificial?
R: Estimamos que para mediados del 2012 ya estaremos produciendo la piel artificial.
P: ¿La producción será utilizada en el país o exportada?
R: Una vez que se empiece a producir se pensará en exportar, sin embargo, también queremos fomentar el uso de este material en el país, para eso ya hemos tenido reuniones con miembros del Colegio Médico. Una vez instalada la planta también se producirá ectoina que es un compuesto químico biodegradable que se utiliza en la elaboración de cremas y que tiene buena aceptación en el mercado.
